Highfields studentAs we are a Pupil Referral Unit, we do not accept general admissions. All referrals are made by schools which then require approval by the local authority. All approved referrals are taken forwards in the first instance by our Stockport Young Future team before transition to the main college provisions or transition to another school (usually via Managed Transfer Protocol).

All referrals require completion of the form which is then emailed to the contact provided within the form – not directly to the college. Non-PEx Referrals queries are managed via a specific criteria as outlined on page 3 of the Highfields SPI Referral Form – these require Director of Education approval following review by the Secondary Panel for Inclusion.

Out of Area (OOA) Referrals / Admissions are conditional, based on agreement from the home borough to the college’s charging: Out of Area Placement Costings Breakdown – Highfields College

The college does admit students with an existing Education, Health and Care Plan and can provide specialist support for complex SEMH and related learning issues. The college does not automatically carry forward referral work for an EHCP which previous schools may have discussed and began initial work around – instead, the college will undertake 3 cycles of assess-plan-do-review over a minimum of 3 half-terms before deciding to act on an EHCP referral.
