Highfields College provides an Access & Family Support (AFS) service designed to assist both students and their parents. This service is dedicated to helping families navigate challenging times and ensuring that your child can fully engage in their school life. The college considers its partnership with parents to be its most important, recognizing that your insights into your child’s life are invaluable.
The AFS team works to improve your child’s attendance by addressing factors like emotional well-being and home stability. The support offered is confidential (unless a safeguarding issue is identified) and can be tailored to your family’s specific needs.
The AFS staff can assist with a range of issues, including:
- Creating plans to address problems such as poor attendance or family conflicts.
- Providing information about and connecting you with local services.
- Assisting you with necessary paperwork.
- Offering advice on how to encourage positive behaviour at home.
The team works directly with students at school, using your input to inform their conversations and arrange mentoring or counselling sessions for both short-term and long-term issues. If you need support, you can contact the college reception and ask to speak with the AFS staff for your child’s section of the school.
