This year we were invited to Stockport’s ‘Young Apprentice Event’. Students were given the opportunity to compete against mainstream schools in a ‘The Apprentice’ style experience.
The 5 students who attended were given tasks to test their practical and creative skills, their ability to develop business plans, work together as a team, monitor a budget and then pitch ideas to a judging panel. Students displayed amazing team work skills, assigning individual roles suited to their skills, taking each other’s views and opinions on board. This enabled them to produce a prototype sustainable home, which makes use of technology in order to be as eco-friendly as possible and inclusive as possible.
Although we didn’t win, one student was singled out for his project management skills, describing him as “a future CEO” and a “business leader in the making”. This student was given the ‘Star Project Manager’ award for his efforts.
