In case you couldn’t attend, here is a fantastic write-up from Mrs Tebbutt about our recent parent and partners open morning – with some excellent photos from Miss Hadfield:

On Friday 22nd December we opened our doors to parents and carers. This was an opportunity for you to come in, see what we are about and meet your child’s teachers. The event was a great success with many parents and carers joining us to discuss what their child was learning, look in their books and discuss the future. All the teachers were available in KS3, KS4 and Outreach and enjoyed spending time with parents/ carers to discuss their subject and what the students have and will be learning with examples of this in their rooms.

We were also joined by outside agencies who work in Stockport to provide support to children and families such as Mosaic (drugs and alcohol) and our careers advisor. It was a fantastic opportunity to discuss some of the wider issues affecting our children.

It was lovely to see the morning so well attended by parents, carers and students. Here are some comments from those that attended:

“I couldn’t have wished for a better place for my son to be in, he’s been given all opportunities to learn everyday life skills. All the teachers I met today were so polite and genuine. They were all interested in explaining what each one does, I found it so welcoming. I’d like to say thank you to you all, myself and my son, I cannot thank you enough for the hard work you all put in , I can honestly say you have made my son’s life a lot happier , and given him a purpose in life. So for that I commend you all.”

“The mentor I met for my son was fantastic, so down to earth and spoke highly of my son. This kind of contact with parents should be done more often. I was pleasantly surprised with the work my son has been doing.”

“Our visit went well, we felt the teachers have got to know and understand our son. We managed to speak to all of our son’s teachers and felt they gave us plenty of their time.”

We will be opening our doors again on Thursday 28th March, we hope to see even more people at this next event.
