In just six months – and with help from the Duke of Edinburgh Award Diamond Fund – Mrs Mason and Mr Spurrier have worked hard to move our allotment from a good idea on paper to something ‘alive and kicking’. It has been a pleasure to see them working hard with KS4 students to turn a fairly plain patch of grass into a place where we are now growing herbs, vegetables and fruit.

In doing so, students have found they have new skills and interests – and have been motivated to see the results of their efforts quite literally growing in front of them.

This week – in recognition of what has happened – the Royal Horticultural Society have awarded this project its highest ‘5 Star’ award. What an achievement! Well done to everyone involved.
