This week, our fantastic 4A students took their very first steps into the exciting world of ecology! They were tasked with venturing out into the school grounds, equipped with the knowledge, quadrat frame, and a healthy dose of curiosity, to investigate the fascinating biodiversity that exists right on our doorstep.

For those unfamiliar with the term, a quadrat is a square frame used by ecologists to sample a specific area of vegetation. By placing the quadrat in different locations and meticulously recording the plant species found within its boundaries, students are able to gain valuable insights into the variety and distribution of plant life in a particular habitat.

We were incredibly impressed by the students’ dedication and enthusiasm throughout this project. They meticulously examined each quadrat, carefully identifying the different plant species they encountered. Their focus and teamwork were truly commendable, and it was a pleasure to witness their budding scientific curiosity in action.

This initial foray into the world of ecology has undoubtedly sparked a flame of curiosity among 4A students. We are eager to see where this journey takes them as they delve deeper into the wonders of the natural world. Their ecological exploration has just begun, and we can’t wait to see what fascinating discoveries they make next!

A huge well done to the students for a fantastic first experiment!
